Hospitality · Rest · Emotional Healing · Affordance
Despite tens of thousands of daily users, SRT Suseo Station’s plaza lacked any seating or rest amenities. The vast open space was merely transited, never inhabited.
A 3-day design experiment installing Perchable facilities (multi-height seating) and Green Safe Territory(plant-based psychological comfort zones). Before-After comparative analysis measured behavioral changes including user counts, dwell time, and satisfaction.
Grounded in the concept of “Hospitality Public Design,” the experiment proved that providing rest infrastructure transforms transit spaces into dwelling spaces. The Green Safe Territory concept leverages biophilic instinct—people perceive green spaces as inherently safe—to invite lingering.

Users increased from 11 to 34 (309% increase). 99% satisfaction rate. Usage purposes: rest (48%), waiting (25%), biophilic engagement (20%), events (8%). Significant increase in dwell time and revisit intention.
